Beijing Institute of Technology

Beijing Institute ofTechnology (BIT) is a highly esteemed science and technology university,providing over 70 years of education to students in the capital of China. Italso offers degrees in diverse areas such as business, the social science andhumanities, law, design art, and foreign languages. BIT is organized into 19 schools,offering 64 undergraduate programs, 196 graduate programs, and 95 doctoralprograms. There are more than 27,000 full time students studying in BIT,including over 15,000 undergraduates and over 11,000 graduates. There are morethan 1200 international students on campus from 90 countries, among them, morethan 700 are degree students in undergraduate, master and Ph.D programs.

Along with 70 years’ development, BIT is one of the top research universitiesin science and technology in China with leading programs, faculties andscientific research. In 2014，BIT ranked 79^th in the Top 100 Universities in Asia and enteredthe Top 500 World Universities according to the 2014 QS World University Ranking.

BIT has 3504 faculty members, among them, there are 13 academiciansof the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, 15 professorsof Recruitment Program of Global Experts,11 chiefscientists of 973 Program, 24 professors and chair professors of Cheung KongScholars Program, 8 winners of National Outstanding Youth Science Fund, 4National Distinguished Teachers, 109 New Century Talents by the Ministryof Education.

Aiming to meet the needs for national strategic development, BIT hasdeveloped into an institute of science, engineering and liberal arts withscience and engineering as the focus. BIT has 9 national key programs, amongwhich the engineering, materials, chemistry, physics and mathematics are rankedas top 1% in ESI international programs; BIT has 5 national key labs and 26 keylabs and engineering research centers associated with the Ministries.

BIT has established partnership with more than 200 universities from59 countries. BIT also has signed the students exchange agreements with morethan 40 universities, including Technische Universitaet Muenchen, RWTH AachenUniversity, Moscow State Technical University "N.E.Bauman", TokyoInstitute of Technology, Illinois Institute of Technology, etc., which has establisheda global network of international students exchange and collaboration.

BIT is designated to offer the Chinese Government Scholarship, BeijingMunicipal Government Scholarship, and BIT Scholarship to the qualified internationalstudents. BIT offers English taught programs in International Economics andTrade, Accounting, Software Engineering, Electronic Science and Technology,Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science andTechnology, Flight Vehicle Design and Engineering and Intelligent MechatronicalEngineering. BIT also provides non-degree programs in Chinese language study,culture programs and Pre-University Science programs.
